With this music, I wanted to convey the sadness X feels from seeing Zero fade away, especially as the music moves to the tenderness of a soft solo piano. Like many Mega Man X fans, that scene always gets to me because, in a short time, we see that X had befriended Zero and went through a lot with him, and though X loses many friends in the fight against Sigma’ army, losing Zero was his biggest loss of all.
